FLY MOB

Beginning May 1, 2019, air travelers will be able to fly direct to Chicago and Denver from Mobile, Alabama. The new flights from the Port City to those destinations will be flown by low-fare carrier Frontier Airlines.

Chris Curry, president of the Mobile Airport Authority, said two commercial airports -- the Mobile Downtown Airport and the Mobile Regional Airport, will operate passenger service out of the city for a period of five to six years. The plan is to ultimate shift all commercial passenger service to the Mobile Downtown Airport located at Brookley Air Field.

This May Frontier will offer non-stop service from Mobile Downtown Airport to Denver International Airport and Chicago O'Hare International Airport. To celebrate the groundbreaking service of these two new routes, Frontier will offer special introductory one-way fare of $39, which is available now on flyfrontier.com. Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson in an interview with Mobile’s Fox 10 said, "Frontier Airlines will offer our citizens the opportunity to fly to great destinations at affordable prices. Their investment in our city is another indication of the positive momentum we are experiencing in Mobile. We encourage everyone to support this new service and help us continue to grow."

Given Mobile’s regional location, and importance as a regional shipping corridor, this is a very solid positive move on the part of Frontier. Jonathan Freed, Director of Corporate Communications for Frontier Airlines stated that, “We are proud to bring our unique brand of Low Fares Done Right to Mobile,” said. Frontier is focused on more than low fares. The carrier offers customers the ability to customize travel to their needs and budget.

According to Frontier’s website, customers can purchase options a la carte or in one low-priced bundle called the WORKSsm. This bundle includes refundability, a carry-on bag, a checked bag, the best available seat, waived change fees and priority boarding.
